Investment Funds

The range of investment products continues to expand, and to increase in complexity and sophistication. If we have funds to invest we should always be confident that the assets we hold are suitable for our needs.

Do the individual holdings reflect our appetite for risk? Is the portfolio sufficiently diversified to spread the risk to an appropriate level?   If funds are required for a particular purpose at some point in the future, how confident can we be that they will hold their value? What about the effect of inflation? All of these questions and more must be addressed when constructing or reviewing a portfolio of investments.

Then there’s the question of tax. Investing via an ISA is generally tax-efficient. Life office bonds can offer a favourable treatment to higher-rate taxpayers, and for some it may be appropriate to invest within their pension funds, to enjoy the tax reliefs available to pensions.

A well-managed portfolio of investment funds, incorporating a blend of equities, property, bonds and cash, should provide a tax-efficient balance between risk and return, tailored to suit your own circumstances and requirements.
