About GT

GT Independent Financial Advisers was founded in Marlow, a small town on the River Thames in Buckinghamshire, in 1986 by a former Trust Company director of one of the UK’s leading banks.

Committed from outset to providing financial advice of the highest quality and maintaining ethical standards which have sadly been lacking in many larger competitors over the years, it has enjoyed success in its objective of stable and sustainable organic growth, and now employs more than 20 people, all based in our office in Marlow.

Independence remains central to the GT philosophy.  We are independent in the sense of providing impartial advice on products across the whole of the market, as well as in the sense of having no shareholders other than those employed within the company itself.  Regulatory changes in recent years have enabled some large institutions to purchase shares in advisory firms, but this has not happened at GT and we remain committed to full independence.

Our philosophy is simple:  we aim to provide top quality advice to individuals at all stages in life, and to form lasting relationships with our clients so that we are able to guide them in their financial affairs throughout their lives.  Most of our clients come to see us (or we go to see them) every year for their annual review, and many of them have been with us for twenty years or more.  We believe that it’s important to have an established relationship with a financial adviser, so that there is a trusted person to turn to if the unexpected happens.

Most of our clients come to us from referrals, but we also have long-term links with some large organisations which retain us to give Retirement and Midlife Planning seminars for their staff.
